the yummiest blogs

It has been ages since my last update, I know! I’ve got some great updates planned though over the next few weeks, exploring current summer trends and also some sneak previews on our upcoming site updates. We’re well into summer already and it’s time to kick back, relax and enjoy the long wonderful days ahead :)

This time of year always brings back tons of nostalgic memories…of long summer holidays (three months!). The wonderful, lazy days of whiling away countless hours playing games and eating and reading non-stop. Ahh, the blissful days of youth ;) Of course this time of year always makes me feel even more nostalgic especially because my birthday is very much in the summer; a year older and wiser am I now — the quarter of a century has hit!

It’s always around this time of year when I start to re-assess my life and try to set new goals for the coming year (something that creates a lot of happy motivation energy). So, recently I’ve been pursuing two of my favorite passions — food and fashion. As part of that I’ve been surfing loads of blogs to inspire myself (sometimes you just need to waste time doing things you enjoy so you can get back on track)! What better to update with then to present you with a list of ten (or so) of my most favorite food blogs. (Psst, I’ve also been baking a lot recently so will post up some recipes as well soon).

Btw, so what are some of your favorite food blogs? Let us know below!

Tastespotting

Of course the ultimate guide out there on the food-o-sphere. Tastespotting. I think this site really needs no introduction. It’s visual food porn at its very best. I love this site. It makes me really hungry. Starving, in fact. But I love it anyway :)

Cakespy

A site dedicated to seeking sweetness in everyday life. What a philosophy! A great site for finding out interesting new dessert ideas, as well as wonderful recipes all presented in the cutest style. Features recipes like Rice Krispie Pizza, Twinkie Tiramisu, Samoa Cupcakes (these simply look WOW), Houdini Bars, Nanaimo Bars (a delicious treat which I tried on a ferry to Victoria two years ago but still have not had the opportunity to re-create) among many, many more. A great (and fun) resource for bakers!

Luxirare

While not strictly a food blog, this lovely blog combines both of my loves: food and fashion in an unbelievably stylish manner; the tagline is “Killer clothes and Fine cuisine”. I love love love the photos. Amazing. Check out some of my favorite eye candy posts (especially those pie pops; a must try out!)

Bakerella

One of my all-time favorite blogs; in fact it is one of the first I ever discovered. Her cake pops are an absolute classic! She inspired me to purchase a wonderful little cupcake recipe book entitled Hello Cupcake though I’ve yet to make anything from it. Amazing blogger who creates wonderful desserts in a fun and imaginative manner with a minimum of fuss. P.S. her oreo truffles are always always always a big hit and SO easy to make! I’ve also got my eye on trying out this awesome fast food meal, as well as these fun film bake treats. And oh, of course, these brownie pillow cookies.

Smitten Kitchen

I enjoy reading the posts on this site because they are so wonderfully written and I simply adore all the visual eye candy as well. I’ve bookmarked a ton of recipes but have yet to try them out. This site is extremely useful and a great resource for novice cooks (such as myself). Some of my loves: hello dolly bars, homemade oreos, lemon layer cake, and icebox cake (which I’d really never heard of before reading about it on this blog! Looks so easy and yet so delicious).

Bake or Break

This site features a lot of amazingly simple recipes. Plus, I love the printable recipes we get on this blog. Have tried out a couple of recipes and instructions are always really clear and easy to follow (very exact and hardly had to adjust anything!) Plus we get multiple desserts rolled into one delicious whole, like the chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake bars, the brownie peanut butter cups, chocolate-chip filled melting moments and double delicious cookie bars! The recipe names evoke a tantalizing expectation of delicious flavor ;)

Cupcake Bakeshop

A great resource for cupcake lovers with many basic tips on troubleshooting your cupcake baking problems. Extremely helpful; have browsed through and perused the tips section but have yet to try out any recipes. There’s just too much variety to choose from!

ieatishootipost

I love the name of this blog. It’s just so simple and straightforward! An amazing resource for Singaporean foodies. This is another one of the first food blogs I ever read, and I keep returning back to it, simply because I haven’t yet found any other site that’s as complete or well organized to discover Singapore foods. I’ve tried out loads of places due to his recommendations, like the delicious Godzilla bao (a giant bao that can be eaten as a full meal unto itself).

Joy the Baker

A yummy food blog indeed. I return back to this site randomly when in the mood for some delicious photos and recipes to make. I’ve tried out the lemon whoopie pies from this blog and oh-my-god they are to-die-for! ;) Check out this list of her top ten favorite cookie recipes.

Dessert First

Another blog that I randomly get drawn back to. I love some of the novel ideas on this blog, like the sweet sushi and also classics like this chocolate capri cake.

The Pioneer Woman

I love her. She’s amazing. She writes really well and I love her step-by-step photo instructions! Her whole site is bloody amazing; she’s so over-achieving I almost hate her (no kidding, I still love her). Am waiting to try out her chocolate sheet cake which has rave reviews all over the blog-o-sphere and looks simply to-die-for. And also this stuffed french toast and tons of her other recipes as well. Oh and I love her story. Her love story that is. Wonder if it is true?? Sounds so movie-like. *sighs*

Simply Recipes

The name says it all; this site is a classic. And really a go-to place for great and simple no-fail recipes. One of my first food blog loves and regularly visited by me.
