Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2010 Oasis collection is inspired by antiquity and ancient times:
“For this collection I went to antiquity. I always loved the Pre-Raphaelite paintings. So we have lots and lots of draping, but my girl is the cool girl, the young girl, so she wears all this draping with tee shirts and jackets so it has an effortlessness.”
The collection presents easy-to-wear items including separates and dresses. Colorful jersey dresses, embellished tunics, animal prints and bright hues were a feast for the eyes on the runway. This ethnically inspired antiquated collection was accessorized by gold laurel wreaths, woven bangles and a great deal of flair. The show was free-spirited, relaxed and yet exciting — an homage to the Egyptian Queens and Greek Goddesses of times past. The colors are primarily browns, purples, yellows and other rich earthy hues, presenting a quietly bold vibrancy of easy glamor and style. Says von Furstenberg of the Woman who wears this collection:
“Rising like a phoenix, she is a modern myth, the queen of the desert, a true adventurer, exploring and enticing.”
I just love the effortless style that is presented in DvF’s collections. The flowing lines, the bold colors and prints — everything comes together to present a woman of classic elegance. I’ve picked out some of my favorite styles to share.
